Crème Cupcake + Desserts is planning to move to the former Great Harvest Bread location at 28th Street and Ingersoll Avenue, at 543 28th St. in Des Moines, from its current location at 1701 S. Union St.
Owner Christina Moffatt worked for awhile out of AllPlay, at 615 Third St., from January until she relocated the bakery to the South Union address, the site where South Union Bakery got its start, about four months ago. The new space will permit her to expand production and provide a better retail location as well as seating for about 34 people.
Crème Cupcake has 36 flavors of cupcakes and additional seasonal flavors, custom cakes, cookies, bars, pies, tarts and cake truffles; scones, muffins and biscuits in the morning; and dog cakes for the family pet.
Moffatt expects to relocate the business by mid-summer.
Retail hours now are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to noon or by appointment on Saturdays. After the move, the hours will begin earlier each morning and later on Saturdays.
